Why is my computer making strange noises?
Unusual computer noises can come from faulty fans, hard drives, or loose components.
Noisy computers are often due to mechanical issues, such as faulty fans or aging hard drives. If the noise sounds like a whirring or grinding, it could be a sign that the fans are clogged with dust; cleaning them with compressed air may resolve the issue. Clicking noises from a hard drive are more concerning and can indicate impending failure; back up your data immediately if this is the case. Sometimes, cables or loose components inside the computer can also vibrate and create noise. Tighten any screws and ensure all components are securely connected. If noise continues, it may be time to replace the failing component, especially if it’s the hard drive or fan.
